Hello admin,
I would like to stick with Samsung as I enjoy the present camera very much, changing brands means changing lenses so it becomes an expensive exercise. My original purchase,GX-S1, I got for a song, two Samsung lenses and the body cost SR1600.00 which is about US Dollar 400 about 2 years back. Pentax / Samsung just do not feature here in Saudi. I don't want a full frame - that was being cheeky and I was really miffed at waiting for the "rumors" to become reality. With the Nikkon D5000 rumours a date was given and sure enough out popped the D5000 as predicted - Not so with Samsung. (I even mailed Samsung and bit them for not producing the goods. They have not replied - strange that).I would settle for a 12 to 14 mega pixel range. I have the option of some Pentax 35mm lenses, but not started negotiating yet - been waiting. At present I have the original Samsung kit lens, 50mm and Samsung 70 - 150mm I think, I also managed to locate a Pentax 28 to 300 macro(also cost about US Dollar 3500), which I use almost constantly. An upgrade would be for selling the pictures, been trying that for a while and not too successful, trying to do small magazine stuff as well. I notice my images become a bit grainy at full size (Poster Size, and yes, I would like some of my pics that big on my wall).- ok not necessarily the camera itself, but this also happens on my best sharpest pics that do not need adjusting. The zoom has been calibrated to the camera as I dropped it and then was able to have it repaired, repaired very well as the images are better than before. A bigger pixel count would allow me to crop easier and still keep a reasonable image size.
Hope this sheds some light on your query and sorry for the grumble - not specifically at you but all the guys making the predictions on the web.
Cheers

Hi Ian! Buy what you need. Samsung is a new entry in digital photography and it will take time before they expand their range. I am SURE they will go fullframe at least before Photokina 2010. But if you can't wait go for Nikon. By the way you already have a good camera, why do you want to upgrade?
Bye

Having waited for the GX 30 release since June 2009 and not seen any true release data or seen any official Samsung data - I now have this rumour that Samsung have delayed because they are putting a full frame and mobile in the GX 30 and NX series. This tops the other manufactures and includes things like GPS as well which they currently have in their mobiles. These will be released in August 2009. This is as good a rumour as all the rubbish I have been reading on the net about Samsung DSLR and Hybrid releases. Buy a Nikon - you know where you stand with them.
