After posting a nice written Pentax 645D field test Luminous Landscape started a Mini Medium Format Shoot-out. How well does the $10.000 Pentax perform against the much more expensive Phase One P40+ (over $20.000). Their conclusion is: “While this set of image quality comparisons is not exhaustive, the visual evidence suggests that on the whole these medium format camera systems perform more or less equally, with small margins of advantage attributable to the one or the other, depending mainly on the imaging conditions and the lens.“

DxOmark tested the new Pentax K-5 and the results are astonishing! Not only the K-5 is better than the Sony A55 (which uses the same Sony 16 megapixel sensor) it also performs better than the Canon 5DmarkII fullframe camera! In particular the K-5 shows an impressive 14 stop dynamic range (the 5D has 12 stops).
